Deepening | The Higher Mind Retreat with Russ Hudson, Deborah Rose Longo and Melanie Monsour

Inner Work Retreat | The Higher Mind, Russ Hudson, Nonthaburi May 2020

The Inner Work Retreat on The Higher Mind is a part of Asia Enneagram’s 2020 program with Russ Hudson. As in the May 2019 The Heart Retreat in Taiwan, the Gurdjieff Movements taught by Gurdjieff teachers in the 4th Way tradition will be an integral part of The Higher Mind retreat in May 2020.

This retreat will focus on the exploration of the mind’s real intelligence. We don’t need to be Types Five, Six or Seven to struggle with insecurities, fears and inner chatter that disconnect us from our inner guidance. We all benefit from understanding and connecting with the non-dual nature of the Higher Mind. Come and experience Presence in the head center through in-depth and embodied exploration of points Five, Six and Seven.

This work includes personal, embodied experience through which we will deepen our connection with the real intelligence and capacities of our Higher Mind. This will facilitate work on areas such as self-image, narcissism, defense mechanisms and how the fixated views of our personal history impact our present. Also featured are small group exercises, physical movement in the form of the Gurdjieff Movements, meditations and music.

Three master teachers lead us on the journey to the Higher Mind through grounding in the body. Russ Hudson will draw from the depth teachings of the original Enneagram. Deborah Rose Longo will lead us through the sacred geometry of the Enneagram through the Gurdjieff Movements. Melanie Monsour will accompany us on Piano with the sacred music of Gurdjieff and de Hartmann.

Unveiling | The Enneagram of Object Relations with Russ Hudson

The Enneagram and Object Relations, Russ Hudson, Bangkok May 2020

The Enneagram has become popular across the world because of its power to help people understand themselves better. People explore the descriptions of the nine types and find out what fits them best. These descriptions serve as a wonderful starting point to deep dive into the Enneagram as a powerful transformative journey. Part of the Enneagram work is on our shadows, and part of our shadow work is Object Relations.

What is Object Relations?

Object Relations Theory explores the influence of early childhood relationships on personality development that give rise to 3 primary projected object relations – Attachment, Rejection, and Frustration. As adults, we may unconsciously project these object relations onto others such as our children, spouses, and colleagues. Object Relations is an important part of Shadow Work.

What is Shadow Work?

If we are to grow as human beings, we must see those parts of ourselves that create difficulties for us. We need to bring light to the parts of ourselves that are more hidden and yet have a big influence on our behavior. The psychologist Carl Jung called the process of finding these parts of ourselves “Shadow Work,” and as Russ Hudson points out, all psychological and spiritual growth entails shadow work. Read what Russ Hudson says about shadow work. At the same time, most of us are greatly helped by seeing what is good in us.

We need very much to recognise our best qualities, and to learn ways to support these qualities coming forth in our work and in our relationships. We might say that the cultivation of these qualities is part of the work of spirituality—learning to trust the good qualities in us and to live our lives more and more from compassion, awakeness and grounded presence. We need these qualities also to deal with our inner conflicts and difficulties. Without such awareness and support, that journey would be too overwhelming. The Enneagram work is really about bringing these good qualities to our inner shadows, so they can be transformed into something useful. Thus, the Enneagram is most helpful when it enables us to see the parts of ourselves that are left over from our childhood—the parts of us that are still hurt, afraid, ashamed, or angry. We learn to bring kindness and presence to these deeper layers of ourselves, and find healing and a new sense of purpose. – Russ Hudson

Unveiling | The Enneagram of Object Relations
1 to 3 May 2020
Bangkok, Thailand

In this workshop, we will look at each of the nine points of the Enneagram and how early childhood experiences create the ‘self-object’ and ‘other-object’, these form part of our shadow that unconsciously influences our adult relationships.

Studying each Enneagram Type guides us through a transformational journey regardless of our Type. We will learn how each type teaches us something about our Object Relations in our shadows, and opening them to the powerful light of grace, so we can be more free to bring good things to ourselves, our families, our work, and our world. The workshop will include teaching, exercises, music, meditation and discussion. We will discover how these teachings from ancient wisdom traditions are relevant in our busy, modern world. We will also explore new ways of experiencing community with others.

Tweaking the Links to Aging | Talk by Hillary Adrian Han

Join Hillary Adrian Han for this informative and exhilarating evening talk. Come hear about the latest research on genes, aging and fasting.

I never thought that I would say that I find it an exciting time to be getting up there in years. . . I turn 70 in April next year! Even though the word “old” can bring visions of being dependent, having dementia, degeneration, demise and death, I see the opposite: Vibrant, active, good memory, happy, healthy and surrounded by good friends.
Hillary Adrian Han

What is your idea of aging? Do you share the same visions as Hillary? Do you want the same experiences of vitality? Would you want to transform your current health status and trajectory?

Hillary Adrian Han, co-founder and director of Dharma Healing International on Koh Samui, Thailand, is a fasting coach of more than two decades. She herself is a testament to what aging can be, and is, when we understand the impact of modern diet and lifestyle on our health.

Research has shown that genetic mutations, and how our genes are expressed, are directly affected by our environment, and if we change some of the environmental influences by changing our lives and practice, we prevent many or all of these adverse effects on our health span and life span.

To Hillary’s greatest satisfaction, the most studied and most broadly effective practice for extending the life span in mice, fruit flies, nematodes and us, is fasting, dietary restriction and time-restricted eating. In fact fasting and time-restricted eating have been found to reverse aging and might even bring a halt to it.

Please join Hillary Adrian Han at Gallery Helios for an informative and exhilarating evening. The topics she will cover include:

  • Biochemical mechanisms of aging, the mTOR pathway and senescent cells
  • The immune system and inflammation as we age
  • The newest research on “longevity genes” and fasting as an epigenetic trigger
  • Rejuvenating brain and muscle cells
  • Promoting mitochondria biogensesis
  • Hormone shifts during a fast
  • Stimulating your metabolism to be more flexible and improve coherent communication throughout the body
  • Designing a protocol to implement your intermittent fasting practice

Tension & Trauma Release Exercises® Intro & Practice 2 December 2019

Join Certified TRE® Provider Ho Kah Keh for monthly TRE Intro & Practice. Learn how to destress and join the group practice for regular tune-up!

The holidays and the end of the year – and the decade! – are just around the corner. How do you feel? Excited? Stressed? Overwhelmed?

Holidays are not always a fun and festive time. Being in close quarters with relatives you don’t always see – or see eye-to-eye, the emotions that arise with the ending of a year, the ramped-up celebratory calendar, the overindulgence, the expectations of being happy – this can all get overwhelming.

Even if you don’t feel the shoulder tensions or anxiety, stress could be impacting you in ways you aren’t even aware of. To compound that, research shows that childhood trauma can warp out ability to cope in a healthy way or to build our resilience. And we are good at habituating to stress levels, which can lead us to burnout states.

Ok, let’s pause here and exhale and breathe together.

The question is – do you have a solid, reliable stress-release practice? For some people, it’s massage therapy, yoga or running. An effective modality as a standalone or add-on wellness strategy can make a tremendous difference to how you approach and live your life. The best time to start is when you are not in crisis or a heightened emotional state.

Have you heard of TRE®?

Tension Release Exercises works with the autonomic nervous system and the physical body, helping an individual complete their stress response. They trigger the natural shaking that we see in animals after they encounter a threat. Releasing stress is not a mental process, it is neurogenic. Because of our sedentary lifestyle and cultural programming, we are taught not to shake or cry and to “suck it up”.  The shaking initiated by doing TRE come from the nervous system.

These exercises help to release tension and even trauma from the body, to bring a person into greater self-awareness, and even to remind them of the pleasures of being embodied. TRE can help you be more present to yourself and your needs, allowing you to make better choices this holiday season and to  enjoy your relationships much more.

TRE® Intro & Practice

Monday 2 December 2019
7.30 – 9.00 PM

Certified TRE Provider Ho Kah Keh will cover the basic mechanics of stress, how TRE helps, and how to do the TRE exercises.  He will lead the group through the exercises and will work one-on-one to help each person learn or deepen this simple way to release stress and tension from the body.
